PHYSICS||SOUND-1||IMPORTANT BITS
- Sound waves touch the ear drum about 1/10 Seconds then the sensation of hearing will be simulated.
- The emission and propagation of the sound is zero in which the particles can not vibrate about their mean position.(eg: Rubber, cotton, cloths, Thermocoal, saw dust )
- The capacity to do work is called Energy.
- Matter exits in 3 types (solids, liquids, and gases Note: Plasma is the 4th state of matter).
- Law of conservation of energy states that energy nigher created nor destroyed but it can be transformed from one form to another form. ONLY FOR GOVT JOB PREPARATION
- The speed of sound in moon is Zero.
- Scientific name of moon is Selence. study of moon is Selenology.
- Size of the moon is 1/3 rd of size of the earth. Acceleration due to gravity is 1/6th of the earth.
- Limit of audibility of a healthy human being is from 20Hz to 20kHz.
- Inaudible waves below 20 Hz called Infrasonics. (these can be received by snakes on the soil, whale in the sea).
- Inaudible sound beyond 20kHz is Ultrasonic waves.(dogs up to 50 kHz, bat, tortoise and dolphins 1,00,000 Hz).
- In laboratory Ultrasonic waves can be generated by piezoelectric method.
- Ultrasonic waves used in pasteurization of milk, sent into water of 0 degree C to attain boiling, crush stones in kidney, remove broken teeth without surgery, treatment of arthritis(knee pain), scan the internal organ (ultrasonography), to drill a hole in metal plate, repel the mosquitoes, to attract fish in the water, soldering process to join the two free ends of the wires, working in SONAR (Sound Navigation and Ranging System)(First constructed by Nixon)
- speed of the light 3*10^8 m/sec. http://singuru-santhoshkumar.blogspot.com/
- Electromagnetic waves in the air and vacuum is equal to the speed of the light.
- Mechanical waves requires material medium for propagation.
- Longitudinal waves propagate compressions and rare fractions
- Transverse waves propagate crests(energy max.) and troughs(energy min.).
- sound and light waves travel in form of transverse waves in solids and liquids.
- 1 A^0 Angstrom =10^-10 m.
- wavelength difference b/w two successive either crests or troughs.
- The time required to complete one oscillation is called time period.
- The no.of oscillations per one second is called frequency.
